15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.

 

16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

 

17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

 

18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

 

19 And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?

 

20 And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.

 

21 And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.

 

22 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?

 

23 He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

 

24 And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.

 

25 And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?

 

26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;

 

27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.

 

28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

 

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

 

30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

 

31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

 

32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

 

33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

 

34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

 

35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;

 

36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

 

37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.

 

38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

 

39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

 

40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.

 

41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

 

42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

 

43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.

 

44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.

 

45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

 

46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.

 

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

 

48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

 

49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.

 

50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.

 

51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

 

God you are showing me to be like John be the one who's crying in the wilderness that your souls may Know Who You Are before you come. I need to get out in witness to your souls reach out to your people that's on this Earth lost. That they may have everlasting life. Have to put aside my feelings and my ways in do your will as it is done in heaven. You know My coworker told me today that she started back reading her devotionals because she see me at work reading your word God help me to cry out like John to your souls change my heart help me to see your souls different that I may feel the way you feel about us. Help me to show that example that you left for me to follow.

"Hail, King of Israel"

In this opening chapter of the book of John, we see an inaugural introduction of our Beloved Savior, Jesus, Yeshua. An introduction fit for the King of Kings--John provides an elaborate list of qualifications of our Royal Ruler... As Elohim Creator, the Word reigned with God before the

creation and is God triune. The same incomprehensible Light of the world shines that brightly and dispels ALL darkness, evil, and obscurity also dispenses the POWER that changes the identity of all who will behold Him (as Lord & Savior)--translating us from wicked, unrepentant enemies into beloved and sanctified children of The Most High God. There is so much more that can be said about our Illustrious, Majestic, Regal, Honorable Savior and King...

 

In short, this first chapter of John proclaims, "ALL HAIL JESUS, KING OF ISRAEL!!!"

As King, He is worthy of my worship, obedience, sacrifice, service, and submission...Hail, Jesus, King of Israel...

All things were made by him - THE WORD

When we ask God for something in Jesus' name (authority) as we are commanded to do in scripture, it's like THE WORD is continuing to make all things. That's how things - all things past present, and future- are created, by THE WORD, by Jesus. THat's why we are told in scripture,

although we are asking God for requests, we must go through Jesus - the LIVING WORD. We are created in God's image and he gives us the power to use words to create things in Jesus' name, things that line up with God's will. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they

that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (Let's make some things!)

 

-We know Jesus through studying the word because he is THE WORD.

 

-In him was life.

"Life" without Jesus, without THE WORD is no life at all; the Bible says that in him was life.

 

-Full of Grace and Truth. Jesus is THE WORD. Of course the word is truth. When we agree

with the Bible, we agree with the truth, and we agree with Jesus. Those who do not believe the

Bible (the word), are disagreeing with the truth and disagreeing with Jesus (life), the only way to

God. Disbelief in Jesus = damnation because this without Jesus, there is no way to God.

 

-The word became flesh.

 

-I like verse 17. FOr the law was given by Moses, BUT grace and truth came by Jesus. The

law did not have the fullness ofgrace that Jesus offers. I cannot understand why anyone would

choose to obey the law rather than serve and obey Jesus and the new covenant he offers.

 

-v23 I like how John answers the questions with scripture. I am the voice of one crying in the

wilderness...He had GOd's word hidden in his heart and he agreed with the word/ THE WORD,

Jesus. He accepted his role and walked in his purpose.

 

-John had the awesome, humbling experience of announcing/introducing Jesus, the messiah!

May we take a more active role in introducing Jesus, THE WORD, the truth to those around is.

 

-As great as Peter was, it was his brother Andrew who took him to the Messiah. Everyone plays their part in bringing people to Jesus.

John Chapter 1 Revelation

Life begins with Jesus.... knowing Him, believing in Him, loving Him, having a relationship with Him is when you truly experience life. Life consist of two parts... physical and spiritual. Your physical life here on this earth is a reflection of your spiritual life. That's why sometimes you can

know about someone's spiritual life just by looking at their physical life (how they talk, act, dress, etc). Earth is our temporary home so how we live in this time on earth can have an affect on our spiritual life. When we are chosen, we are chosen for a purpose and a higher calling, so our

physical life should reflect that. Opening up the Bible and reading His word, praying and seeking Him, being doers of His word and striving for righteousness are all physical things that feeds the spirit and helps resist the devil. When you are in Christ you become a new creature and all old

things are gone. He promises abundant life to those who admit they are sinners, believe that He died on the cross for our sins, believe in His burial and resurrection, and believe that He rose on the third day and is coming back. Receiving Christ is half the battle. We have to continue to walk/live out our faith. We are at a constant battle with the devil who seeks to destroy us so we must remain under the covenant of the Most High because He has already defeated the enemy and through Him we have the victory. We have to keep pressing towards the mark.

 

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things

which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the

mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

After meditating on John Ch. 1 today, I want God to not only remember me for my good, but also I want Jesus to remember me "under the fig tree". (Nothing would warm my heart ❤ more)
