1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;

11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.

14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,

15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.

16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.

17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.

20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.

22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.

25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.

29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

The book of John is so deep 🙌🏾👀! As I read through the details of our Savior’s walk on earth, I am filled with conviction as we see the doubt amidst so many people at that time (which probably pales in comparison to today, unfortunately). His disciples - the ones who witnessed God in the flesh and heard the word straight ‘from the source’ - couldn’t fathom the fullness of their experience until Jesus was no longer with them.

I already know I woulda been a Nicodemus with 21 questions...what do you mean born again?! Way too technical to understand all those parables 😂! I’m laughing, but thank God for his omniscience and sovereignty, that He willingly came down from heaven so that we can truly experience Him in the Spirit 🙌🏾!

As much as I’d like to think I’d be a bonafied believer in His presence, I’d probably be a doubting, fearful, ignorant Jew on a one way trip straight to hell. I see Thomas, not as a ride or die (at least not at first), but as so many of us in the world...we find something/someone that we get attached to, and then we’re on autopilot. I don’t know for certain if Thomas understood what he was saying/doing, but he was actually just following the Lord. I believe in a God that loves me, and, like Thomas, I may not always have all the details about the path on which I’m traveling, but I know that He will never leave me nor forsake me 🙌🏾...and I’ll end up in the best place because of it.

I can relate to Martha, too 🤗🤦🏾‍♀️! Yep, Jesus woulda told me that I was worried bout the wrong things, too. And here in ch11 he would’ve had to say - I told you so! I’m convicted, but I’m more grateful than anything! Now, I will join the Father in heaven, with Lazarus, Thomas, Martha, & Mary🙌🏾!

For they loved Praise from Men more than Praise from God.  John:43.

Lord what would make me afraid to show my Faith to Man?  As I read this chapter I begin to do some serious soul searching and I see why the Jews did not believe Jesus. The enemy had blinded their eyes and deadened their hearts.  Truly without Seeking the Lord, Reading His Word, Praying and fellowship with other believers where would I be?  I was Blind and now I see!

The real issue in my opinion, with Fear and Faith , is confidence  in what we believe.  Reading the Word and praying gives me a constant overflow to give to others.  If I truly believe in Jesus, how could I give Him up?  I hear the Word of the Lord saying:  "BUT whosoever shall deny me before men,  him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." JOHN 10:33.  Sure,  I have been rejected, talked about and the favorite line is(you think you are better than I am).  But with the unwavering Love ,I know the Father has given me and the Mercy and Grace when I was yet a sinner, makes it worth the persecution!  If we truly want to honor God, then how could the approval of mere mortal people become more important? Sometimes the only Bible people will read will be the Christians.  "Let our Light shine before Men so that they will glorify Our Father in heaven" Matthew 5:16.

Father, give me courage to stand up and confess my Faith in Jesus with graciousness. Please help me live that Faith before the people with whom I interact regardless of their acceptance or rejection of me

Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” John 13:8

The washing, the cleansing, the sanctification, the gift of being washed by the Lamb, cleansed from the filth of our sins! Oh how amazing he is! 🙌🏽 As the disciples walked through the rough of the streets daily accumulating the dirtiest of dirt so are we. Daily accumulating the filth of our sins but God! Jesus is there to wash us daily from it all.

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14-16‬ ‭

Jesus being the greatest took the lowliest position. He shows us his heart and his humility. He gives us an example to follow. We should not think of ourselves as higher than the next. We should humble ourselves and exhibit the heart of Jesus and serve one another. By doing this we show whose we are and are blessed.

“If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”

‭‭John‬ ‭13:17‬ ‭

Lord I want to be more like you and less like me! Give me the heart of a servant!

J. Collins

The washing of the feet shows me Jesus example of humility. It shows us how we can love others who really don’t deserve it because He loves us. It also shows us His love through service. There is times in ministry, we need to show Gods love through humbly servicing in ministries. What i also got from this is that Nothing can be hidden from God, He is all knowing. Jesus knew who would betray him and deny him. So amazing. I gained a lot from this chapter.

My favorite scripture in CH. 13 Is versus 34 when God says that we must love one another as he have loved us so we must love another. This is so true why do we say we love God when we never seen him before but hate our brothers and sisters. If we have no love for them we are hyprocrites.

T. Montgomery

The scripture I love in this chapter is John 13:34 "a new commandment I give unto you. That ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. My prayer is that I would continue growing to love the way God loves...

D. Cormier

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

This justifies, that God loves us enough to send his son to save a lost soul  like me.  His love is everlasting and unconditional, i would hear those words but it didn't  mean a thing to me until he really reached down and saved me, glory to god!! He thought me to believe  he's always there,  just receive him and let him continue to do his work in you no matter what others may say, because when they see his spirit in you they fear you, mock you, turn his word around to make you stumble, and talk about you, but he said he will always be there, keep the faith!!

N. Woods

like verse 14.God said if I am your Lord and Master.I have washed your feet. You ought to wash one another feet.God shows us so many way on how we should treat and love one another.Even when someone be wrong you show them love anyway. We serve an AMAZING GOD!!!!!

Revelation ch 13: v

3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;

This is powerful. .brings to remembrance EVERYTHING god has already equipped us with.  He's already given us all the resources we need to live in this world but not be of this world.  He's given us weapons of warfare...he said  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

When I think of how he chose ME. ..as King David asked  "Who am I, Lord God" . How he predestined me. .how he knew they plans he had for me before I was formed in the womb.  How he knew I would accept his call before I could even fathom it. Wow,  we are better than blessed, a peculiar people,  the chosen.

We are blessed because he predestined our plans then if that isn't enough he turned around & gave us everything in our hands to reach our destiny. It's just a matter of removing self out of the way & positioning ourselves for the blessings he so graciously has set aside for us.  He's a great, mighty & loving God.
